Use cover-letter

Write a cover letter for one job from the person's resume and the posting

Write a cover letter for one job from the person's resume and the posting: under a page, opening on the strongest evidence for the role, two or three specifics matched to what the employer asked for, and no enthusiasm, company facts or experience the person didn't supply. A script lists every figure and name in the letter that their own material doesn't contain. Works for any occupation and level.

Reach for it when the user says "write a cover letter for this job", "draft a covering letter", "write the cover note for my application", or needs an application email to go with a resume.

Install it

npx skilldrop-cli install cover-letter # Claude Code, your user folder
npx skilldrop-cli install cover-letter --project # Claude Code, this repo
npx skilldrop-cli install cover-letter --ide cursor # or kiro, codex, antigravity, copilot

It is part of the Job applications pack: --pack career installs it with its neighbours.

It ships scripts, so it needs Python 3 (standard library only, nothing to install). What they may touch is declared in its manifest.

Ask for it

Say it the way you would to a colleague. Requests like these route to it:

Requests like these belong to a different skill, so it shouldn't answer them:

If another skill answers instead, ask for this one by name: "use cover-letter".
