Use role-shortlist
Read every open role on an employer's careers page, a job-board export or a folder of saved postings, and say which ones one person should apply for
Read every open role on an employer's careers page, a job-board export or a folder of saved postings, and say which ones one person should apply for — each role judged only from its own posting text, roles that couldn't be read listed as unread instead of guessed from their titles, a role whose screening requirement the person doesn't meet named as out whatever else fits, and the same role posted twice counted once. Works for any occupation.
Reach for it when the user asks "which of these jobs should I apply for", "go through this company's openings", "shortlist these postings against my CV", or has more postings than they want to check one by one.
Install it
npx skilldrop-cli install role-shortlist # Claude Code, your user folder
npx skilldrop-cli install role-shortlist --project # Claude Code, this repo
npx skilldrop-cli install role-shortlist --ide cursor # or kiro, codex, antigravity, copilot
It is part of the Job applications pack: --pack career installs it with its neighbours.
Ask for it
Say it the way you would to a colleague. Requests like these route to it:
- "Here are all the open roles at the hospital trust, saved in postings/. Which ones should I actually apply for? My CV is cv.md"
- "go through this company's careers page export and shortlist the jobs that fit my resume"
- "I have 15 job ads saved, can you tell me which are worth my time"
- "which of these openings match my experience? resume attached"
Requests like these belong to a different skill, so it shouldn't answer them:
- "Am I a good fit for this one posting? Be honest about the gaps"
- "Tailor my resume for the warehouse supervisor job"
- "Write a cover letter for the analyst role"
If another skill answers instead, ask for this one by name: "use role-shortlist".
Check what you get
A good result:
- No role is ranked without its posting text having been read. Unread roles are listed as unread, with no verdict.
- A role with an unmet screening requirement is never under Apply, and the requirement is named. An item the posting calls preferred is never treated as one.
- Every role given appears exactly once; duplicates are merged, closed ones are noted.
- Every "fits" rests on the person's own material, and a similar thing is not counted as the named one.
- The answer opens the reply, and the size is the one asked for, with no empty groups.
